could it be that's just how fantasy basketball is? Does anyone have experience in another fantasy basketball league to compare this to? I don't. Just asking
No one had experience when we shifted to top 6 format in football. That's what's great about these leagues, we continue to try and develop the best format for fantasy.

that was pretty much a no brainer though and we were trying to eliminate luck.
Now we're trying to eliminate a perceived non competiveness with a bunch of ideas that in the long run will make the league even less competitive. Instead of having six different teams compete each year, you'll have the same teams competing each year

Just a quick look at the league history (I can't find 2011)
No 1 team has been in the playoffs for all of the last 3 years.
We've had 3 different champs
and only redd has been in the finals twice
5 of the 12 teams have been in the championship game in 3 years.
Only will has missed the playoffs the last 3 years and I believe he's been hit hard by injuries

Those are cool stats but I don't get your point related to what I have brought up.
For the most part, it's suck one year, sell out, be really good the next year, buy, repeat.
The way you make a run in this league is to sell your picks to shitty teams. That's fine, but again that leads to a watered down regular season. You have about 4 really good teams, two decent teams, and then everyone else is a guaranteed 6 wins. IMO that is lame. People will say the same thing again this year.
I'm in a 10 team league that only keeps 3. The draft is better and the competition is better. There hasn't been a draft pick traded the last two years. I'm not saying you need to eliminate it all together fwiw, but what we have now can be better.

and if you add keepers and/or limit trading it will be suck one year, then suck the next, then suck again, repeat.

I know you don't want to hear about TDBL but I think it's a perfect example as to what can happen.
Once you fall to the bottom vitually the only hope you have to get back is to get really lucky with minor leaguers. With that in place it's caused 4-6 teams to have half of players in the minors which eliminates those teams from the start. You can't trade draft picks to get better because draft picks are pretty much worthless due to the fact that we have 14 teams keeping 12 players each. Who is going to trade you anyone worth a shite so they can get Coco Crisp next season?

FWIW I am not for a dynasty. I think we can do smaller things like limit draft pick trading and adding an extra playoff spot or awarding draft order based on the consolation bracket.
This is not to help crappy teams, it's to prevent them from being so intentionally crappy and watering down the league.

I agree. But saying "We could be worse, look at TDBL" isn't a way of bypassing ways to make this league better.

I'm saying look at what could/would happen if some of these ideas are passed. It's a case study, not an excuse to not improve another league.

I like the idea of the consolation bracket for non-playoff teams to determine draft order. Beyond that, I don't think anything really needs to change.
And before anyone says that I'm against change because I use the current system to my advantage, keep in mind that when I took over Stout's team, it was a bucket of shite. I sucked for one year, was competitive the next year, and then won the league the following year before making to the finals again the next year. I didn't do this whole "suck for a year, be awesome for a year, then suck for a year" program. I try to win every year and will continue to do so. I'm not a fan of throwing money away in the hopes of getting it back two years later.

My biggest issue is all of the meaningless matchups that go on. When you are a good team or a bad team, it doesn't really matter after the first 2 months of the season...actually probably sooner than that.

Well adding more keepers is only going to make that worse. If you want to fix that situation, have less keepers, not more keepers. That way, there are great players to be had in every draft, and a turnaround happens sooner.

But apparently the majority of the league is now just in "F it" mode and apparently I'm speaking for the minority.

get rid of shitty owners...and add the consolation bracket for pick order.

Rick is out FWIW
I don't think Honkus is a bad owner at all. He did what he needed to do to rebuild a team, but he was able to trade all of his picks, have a crappy team all throughout the year and a guaranteed 7-8 wins pretty much every week. When multiple teams suck on that level, the regular season is basically meaningless.

Think outside the box. Kick out anyone that finishes in the bottom two every fricking year. Want to keep playing? Don't suck. Injuries fricked you? Tough shite.
