Im laughing at Jeter being placed in the same category as mays and mantle.

the OP's question was
quote:

How bad is Derek Jeter's final season? Possibly worst final full-time season for an all-time great ever?
& I consider Mantle & Mays as all-time greats.

How many rings does Larkin have? Just curious

The same as the # of MVPs Larkin has, how many MVPs does Jeter have?

Ideally, Jeter should have retired after the 2013 season.

But if you'll recall, last year was the "farewell tour" circus for Mariano Rivera, with this silly new-tradition of giving presents and having speeches from a visiting team's hero.

I guess it would have been too much to have Rivera and Jeter retiring at the same time. So we get this "farewell tour" circus again this year with Jeter, in the midst of his career-worst season.

Someone suggested earlier in this thread that he has mentally "checked out" already- I completely agree.
