He's almost 40 years old and he's been in the league almost 20 years. You really expected him to do anything worth a shite this year?

Not really, but I didn't expect him to be this bad. Not sure you realize just how bad a sub .600 OPS is.

Just some of the guys mentioned in this thread, Mantle had a .782 OPS in his final season. Willy Mays had a .907 OPS in his final full season at age 40 (had a couple more seasons with under 90 games).

Ripken was pretty bad as well. .239 AVG .637 OPS. I believe he and Biggio are the only other in the 3000 hit club with a sub .700 OPS in their final full season.

Chipper Jones' final season in 2012 was his age 40 season 20 years after he debuted.

He triple-slashed .287/.377/.455
