i don't remember any dirty hippies in seattle and i visited several neighborhoods. i do remembers TONS of gutter punk panhandlers in portland though.
seattle is beautiful but i found the people to be passive aggressive and the traffic to be much worse than i expected. that's not much of a gripe though. but i still prefer portland to seattle. it just seemed more easy going.
