Lume has a lot of factors, especially previous brightness exposure. And it decreases over the years. Tritium maintains brightness without light exposure but only for about 10 years and that shite is RADIOACTIVE.

Well the half-life is about 12 years so the better quality gas lamps will last almost 20 before they are really too dim to be usable. As for radioactivity, I hope you aren't chewing on the gas tubes...
