Well, the vibrator assembly is a $2 part that's not too difficult to replace if you can follow instructions thoroughly and keep track of tiny screws. Instructions
Could be loose or corroded.
I've never had to replace one on someone's iPhone, but it's one of the many pieces you remove during the process of replacing the screen.
