I think I remember reading that these guys want to destroy the Kaaba in the Grand Mosque [the most sacred location in all of Islam] and kill Hajjis that circle it because in their opinion it's idolatrous to do so.
This strikes me less as an Islamic ideology with a clear moral, religious, or even geopolitical agenda like bin Laden or the Taliban, and more like a kind of Islamic nihilism.
