And just as this article comes out Arctic ice melt has come to a dramatic screeching halt the past couple of days. Average ice loss in very large August/very early Sept should be anywhere from 25,000 to 60,000 square kilometers per day. The last 3 days the loss has gone from 26,000 to an amazingly low 2,000 to an actual small INCREASE yesterday. At this pace 2014 is in serious danger of falling outside the 10 lowest sea ice extents in the satellite era. In other words, an incredibly dramatic recovery from the 2012 record low. There's a very good chance the low won't even drop below 5,000,000 square kilometers this year. To put that in perspective, the low has dropped below 5 million several times.
