What is the socioeconomic basis for that conclusion?
Because in my estimation, it is neither an "immigrant thing" nor a "Black or Asian thing." It is a desire and motivation thing. It is family expectation placed on progeny to do better than the previous generation.

The determination to immigrate from another continent, as opposed to Mexico, is a good measure of desire and motivation, don't you think?
