They missed him by a day or two. Most rescue attempts fail. They're high risk operations.

That's irrelevant.

Besides, maybe they finished moving the WMDs to Syria a day or two before the invasion began.

Of course they did. They have to wait for the final say before they start. I know you are shocked, but the delay was them waiting on word from The White House...imagine that! Golf anyone?
