To be honest I can't really see how black shoes work with khakis. Usually I see them on dorks and they're of the moc lace up variety.
It doesn't really bother me on others, but I couldn't do it. Once you get a mantra stuck in your head for dress at the office, I feel clownish when I break the rule. It'd feel like wearing dress slacks without a belt or something.
