Keep an open mind. Being versatile is key in a bad job market. Be prepared to earn your stripes. I have a friend that worked 2 years in the Federal Defenders Office. She gained a ton of experience from it and landed a great gig at a big firm. Now,she is heading up their Mass Torts Division.
