Outside of Stud's recruits, next to none of the guys LSU really wanted have said this, and with the ones who have it's been an obvious cop-out. You're letting the Palelei recruitment shape your opinion on this. Besides that, you just read the comments from Charlot's coach saying he's about to change his number so UT coaches can't blow up his phone. What works for one kid might piss another off. Recruiting isn't just as simple as 'putting in more work' but it's an easy scapegoat, just like the budget, when armchair coaches think they could do better.
to add to this... didn't LF7 say something in his announcement about how he hated being contacted so much?

Side Note 1:
When I heard Fournette say that I wondered if he was politely saying I wish I could have ended it sooner, but if I had ESPN wouldn't let me have my day.

Side Note 2:
Some of us remember when getting a letter in the mail or a phone call was exciting or rare. Now I want to set shite on fire every time I get an email or someone calls while taking a dump. Maybe the days of all-out contact (for many recruits, not all; e.g. Tony Brown) have ended. With technology today "contact" is nothing special combined with the nation wide recruiting and blanket coverage it may be an annoyance. It also MAY be a matter of timing more than frequency... again I use the Tony Brown example.

I just want more talent evaluators hired and a bigger recruiting staff.
I want LSU to get themselves a small army of those administrative, non-coaching positions, like "quality control assistants" like the Gumps (and others) have. You know, to do those non-evaluation evaluations they do. I think those type positions are the reason for inflated recruiting budgets at some schools.
