what they say is that Israel's response is disproportionate and dismissive of Palestinian lives.

I am so sick of hearing about 'disproportionate' response from Israel. What would a 'proportionate' response be? This is war. Don't take a knife to a gunfight, and you won't get your arse handed to you.

As far as being dismissive of Palestinian lives, have you ever heard of an enemy combatant sending warnings about when and where bombs are about to be sent? If Israel was truly 'dismissive' of Palestinian lives, then Gaza would already have been leveled and there wouldn't be a single living being left.

It is quite fantastic isn't it about this proportionate argument. One poster the other day went so far as to say that the Palestinian rocket launches were equivalent to firecrackers in his attempt to justify a," proportional" response from Israel.
