Completely different "Cajun microwave" thread

Call it what you want, but I'm looking to make my own. However, this one is way different from the usual thread. I have a truck toolbox that isn't being used and looking to turn it into a Cajun microwave. Currently taking off the lid. It is slightly curved around the edges when inverted which should be perfect for holding the charcoal. I need your best ideas to keep this thing insulated while I test to see if the inverted lid is a somewhat snug fit or not.

Nope. Only thing I'm worried about is heat escaping from the inside. If the lid doesn't fit inverted I could always get metal sheet cut for the specs. But either way I need to make sure it's insulated enough.

Maybe some insulating foam with sheet metal lining it.
Do you have a pic? Hard time picturing what kind of toolbox you are talking about.

I would check to see if that is chrome or nickle. Would just be worried about chemicals leaching into the food in a contained area.
Some sort of fiber insulation with stainless sheet metal, or clad the inside with steel, heavy.

All I can find is that its aluminum

Ah, polished aluminum should be great then.
Would still do some sort of fiber insulation, heat resistant of course, and use flashing (non galvanized)/stainless sheet metal.
Roll the metal over the top lip to give the lid something to rest on.

Could you explain the rolling of metal over the lid? My thought was to insulate it and the use aluminum foil around the edges so the inverted lid fits snug and no heat escapes the box
