I feel like every year, LSU gets less preseason hype than it deserves despite consistently being better than most of the SEC West. I wanted to see if there was any actual evidence for this, so I pulled the preseason SEC West Predicted Order of Finish from Media Days for the last 5 years (2009-2013) and this is what I found:

Number of times LSU has finished worse in the SEC West standings than projected: ZERO.
Number of times LSU has finished higher than projected: 3 out of 5 years; 2010, 2011, 2012
Number of times LSU has finished behind a team that it was projected to finish in front of: 1, Auburn 2013
Number of times LSU finished ahead of a team it was projected to finish behind: 4 out of 5 years.
2013 Texas A&M, 2012 Auburn, 2011 Alabama, 2010 Alabama

As important as perception is in college football, its frustrating that other teams just take undeserving turns in the media spotlight.
