Link to Downtown Houston Magazine with loads of valuable information for LSU fans staying downtown. Maps, lists of hotels, restaurants and bars, how to get around, etc. Downtown Houston Magazine
The entertainment/dining area formerly known as Houston Pavilions is now known as Greenstreet. This is where the House of Blues is located. For fans in town early enough on Friday, a walk through a portion of the air-conditioned underground tunnel might be an interesting experience.
The Astros are in town that weekend playing the Rangers, with games on Friday night at 7:10 and Sunday afternoon at 1:10, at Minute Maid Park on the northeast side of downtown.
Saint Arnold Brewery is just across I-10 on the north side of downtown, and there are brewery tours on Saturday at noon, 1:00, and 2:00, featuring free beer samples ($8 admission). These tours are very popular, especially on Saturday, so they may fill up and there could be a problem getting in, so checking in advance is advised. Saint Arnold Brewery Tours
Have fun and represent well.

Houston is huge. There are a lot of areas you can party in before the game. But just so you know mid-town is pretty much adjacent to downtown. You could pretty easilly catch the rail if you're drinking in either area.

good to know, we're getting on at the northernmost rail station and taking it down to the city, guess we'll hit downtown and midtown since we'll be starting around noonish

Or download Uber…use the promo code "uberwhodat" and you'll get your first ride free…and to ride from downtown to midtown costs about 7 bucks using UberX after tip…it's amazing.

Depends on how old you are. It's a fairly young demographic there. 25-35

I live in midtown. The nightlife is exceptional. Probably going to be packed though. It usually is for a normal night
