What killed the loop project the last time was actually this mindset. The southern portion was swinging so far south that it was practically unusable. Everyone in favor of the loop was only hoping the loop would go through so that other people would use it so that they could have I-10/12 to themselves. Most loop proponents in Baton Rouge were the ultimate NIMBYs. They wanted everyone else to have the loop built through their homes so those other people could use the loop, leaving I-10 free for them to use.

The northern loop MUST be built. The southern end would be a great bonus, but could be rendered unnecessary (though it still would be beneficial) by widening Highway 30 and making improvements to state highways in Ascension and Iberbille Parishes.
