Double Post.

Exactly. Wisconsin will be a solid team. They have a big physical OL with an elite RB. That doesn't scare me with an LSU defense going against them. They are not going to run a no huddle hurry up type offense. They are going to run the ball slowly and methodically and LSU should be very well prepared for that type of an offense. It isn't going to be a gimme win, but one dimensional teams typically do not fare well against an LSU defense.

Are you guys really saying Wisky's running game is their only true threat
basically. stave is not a great qb.

and they will be successful against the Tigers?
I don't think they will, but who knows.

No, me and Monster are saying that is their only offensive threat and they will not be successful against the Tigers.

Bad example.
The Ole Miss backs combined for like 170 yards in 2013 -- probably for near 6 yards per carry.
The Georgia backs probably about the same.

if chief can apply some pressure to stave, this game won't be close. go watch some of the games from last year... he doesn't fare well against the blitz or pressure at all.

Agree. Not being a homer, but Stave sucks
No real other way to put it.

I thought james white from the badgers was a better back than gordon honestly from watching their highlights in 2013. glad he's gone.
Well, James White was a four-year product for Wisconsin with career totals of 4,000+ rushing yards, 6.0+ yards per carry, and 45 TDs. He's one of the best statistical RBs to ever play for the Badgers. There's a reason he's drawing positive reviews in New England right now. The kid was one of the more underrated RBs in college football over the course of his career and this should not be a knock on Melvin Gordon. The coaching staff relied heavily on White in the latter part of 2013 because of his experience in pass protection.
2013 was Melvin's first season at the college level receiving extensive playing time in the backfield. While supremely talented, he is still learning the running back position... and that's scary. His Freshman (RS) season was spent running jet sweeps.
There is a reason NFL scouts said Melvin Gordon would have been the first RB taken in this past season's NFL Draft.

we're talking about single backs.

Well who the frick does give 30 carries to one back nowadays?

Might be more beneficial to talk about both Gordon and Clement. Gordon will receive the majority of the carries, but Clement will not be far behind.

over jeremy hill? I really doubt that.

Ole Miss ran the football 43 times for 176 yards against LSU in 2013 for an average per carry of 4.1 yards.
You seem to really know your shite.

I provided you the link. Take a gander.
quote:
"He's so fluid and easy and graceful," one NFL personnel director said at the scouting combine. "He's (expletive) really good. He's a first-rounder." That scout said Gordon would have been the best back in the draft had he not decided to remain in school.
quote:
The scouting director for another team went a step further, saying Gordon was head and shoulders above a dreary corps of running backs that already includes 20 underclassmen.
quote:
An AFC scout called Gordon "the real deal," and both he and an NFC personnel man said they could have projected him as the first back off the board.
quote:
An NFL running backs coach studied tape of the leading backs and concluded Gordon was No. 1.
quote:
One scout for a team in need of a running back disagreed with Gordon's decision.
"I hope that kid doesn't get hurt," he said. "He made a mistake by staying in. I don't know who was giving him advice or what they did to keep him in school, but that was a bad decision."
quote:
Added another personnel man: "If you're a back and you're a good player, I think you have to come out. You're not going to get any better."

31 for 157 for the running backs -- which we were talking about.

You do know sacks are included in college rushing totals, right?
So if you add three carries (the number of LSU sacks) and the negative 14 yards (the total yardage of those sacks), it's going to skew the stats just a bit.

he's a great back, but just compare what he did to iowa vs what jeremy hill did to iowa...

No such thing as transitive property in football

So, you are saying that the Iowa defense 'beat' Gordon by holding him under 100 yards, but 'lost' to Hill, correct? Therefore, you conclude that Hill is better than Gordon, yes? Got it. Glad to see the transitive property being used to its full potential.

true, but all we can do is compare stats between the 2 backs. Hill would have been a 1st round rb without the two arrests.
