Closest place to go crabbing

From Baton Rouge? Grew up in west la, and always went down to hackberry and Cameron. I've never been crabbing this side of the state. Anyone have any good places?

Lake Maurepas. You can access it from either the Amite or Tickfaw Rivers.

Just looking at a map- without ever having been- if I lived in BR I would head toward LaPlace and take I55 North. With the way that road runs between Maurepas and Ponchatrain you should find some good placES.
