Laredo is 88% white according to wikipedia. But I know that in the US when people speak Spanish they automatically become non-white.

Have you filled out a census before? Hispanic isn't a race so they ask you separately what your race is and whether or not you're Hispanic. You can be white Hispanic (Christina Aguilera and George Zimmerman), black Hispanic (David Ortiz and Zoe Saldana) or other/mestizo Hispanic (??). I guess that you could also be Asian/Hispanic.
