You know to be clear, one can be pro-Zionist while not being pro-the Israeli government being heavy handed and acting like assholes half the time. I respect Netanyahu's sincere commitment to his people and much of what he's personally done in the name of Israel's security over the years. But it's time to put his arse out to pasture. Achieving an uneasy peace over there is difficult enough because of Arab intrasigence, but nothing will ever get done with Netanyahu at the helm. Dude's a loose cannon.

The problem with that is that Israel is a (limited) democracy. And the hell of it is, Netanyahu is a legitimate representative of his people. Insofar as anyone might replace him, it's going to be either Lieberman, Bennett or someone more hawkish within Likud, like Yaalon. There aren't any doves walking through that door. Not even any pragmatists like Sharon or Olmert were. Israel has taken a pretty hard turn in the last decade, and Kerry wasn't wrong when he said that the two-state solution was probably almost out of time.
