What kind of music?
Synth pop/rock-type stuff. Empire of the Sun, MGMT, M83, etc.

Combo amp?
Probably. Gotta fit into the trunk of my sedan.

Budget?
Let's just say the more inexpensive, the better!

I think the Fender Rumble 75 would be about right - 75W, 1x12 - I see them used on Musician's Friend for $160 to about $200.
I'm worried that a Rumble 30 - in the same line might get overpowered in some situations - and it's not a significant reduction in price.

Id peruse Craigslist.
For synth stuff you'll need more low end than anything. 2x15 cabinet and a 500 watt solid state, or 100 watt tube amp.
You could get away with a 1x15 cab as well
15 inch speaker will give you the low end you'll need. Stay away from anything 10 inch or 12 inch for bass unless it's a 4x10 cab. But the 15s are better for that style you said. What city are you located around?

have most of this stuff posted separately, but here is everything consolidated.
I'm mostly looking for cash, but I'll entertain trades.
Bass Amps:
Peavey Century $150 - very loud, good as a slave amp for bass or guitar
Peavey "The Bass" Series 400 $150 - extremely loud and amazing for bass or guitar
1x15 peavey cab $100
2x15 extra deep custom built studio cab $150
