Straight from the link...

Around 4-inches long, the bullets feature optical tips to detect laser beams shown on targets. Actuators inside the bullets then steer tiny fins on their surfaces, which guide them to targets based on information from the tip sensors.

Sounds expensive.

Well I can tell you this, when an aircraft was shot down with a Mini-Gun, 7.62 Cal. 2 or 4K rounds per minute, my first pair of rockets went to that gun to insure it was not used on us. Having had that experience, it was a nightmare to have that weapon turned on you.
I can only imagine what they could have done if they captured a weapon like this Self Guided 50.

but I want you to know I blew up at least 3 Loaches, Scout, - OH-6's because we could not get them out, it was too hot. That first pair had to hit the gun or it may just get dislodged and used to rebuild another they may have.

Yes I was the Lead Gun for a Cavalry unit, D Trp 3/5 Cav
I just sent all the guys I flew with the link for the Self Guided 50, I know they all will be thankful it was not there.
