At least now you can eat without throwing up due to smoke.

That's wonderful. Good for NJ.

How about a solution that doesn't involve government intervention?

If the American public decides they want to be health conscious and avoid 2nd hand smoke then business owners can adjust accordingly and either decide to ban it or allow it, depending on their clientele.

If the customers demand they ban smoking, and they don't ban it, they may lose business.

If the customers demand they don't ban it, and they do, they may lose business.

It's a win-win for everybody without government needing to get involved.

We're talking about a state that thinks it's citizens are too stupid to pump their own gasoline.

it amazes me, if they would just GTFO the way everything would be better.

The market solves 99.9% of problems. This isn't an exception

You need government intervention to get things done sometimes. It took the gov to end segregation when a lot of businesses were whites only. Just as an example. I have no problem and applaud when gov does something positive for once and bans smoking in public places. Hust as I applaud making it illegal to text and drive or talk on anon hands free phone. I also applaud mandatory helmet laws and seat belt laws front and back. OK so a little off the track

Just as in smoking in casinos, the gas station owners lobby bought off the gov in NJ and no self service.

Gov't needed to prime the pump on this one. Now lots of bars don't allow smoking when they could.
