I use a ninja food processor for onions at home, works like a charm. Quarter the onion, drop it in, hit it for a few 2-second pulses, and then hit it again if necessary.
Might not be what you're looking for at the camp though.

Same. I use it for all kinds of things. Even use it when I need a lot of minced garlic.
