Some early models were real duds with bad screens. I have had good luck with my current one which is a model 880. One of the things I like about it is that it comes with a charging cradle.

Low end models are limited in the number of devices they can control, usually up to five. Higher end models have more capacity--15+ devices.

I have two 880s in my house, one in my bedroom and one in my living room. I bought one brand new with the cradle for $200ish? And the other was refurb with no cradle that I got for about $50ish. Both are my favorite remotes I have owned and I have just replaced batteries in them once each. This one isn't made anymore though they had a similar model last year I think. Their big shift was to the One and I just didn't care for it
