He was already quoted this off season when FA started that he wasn't offering max contracts to anyone. Why would any big name player entertain the thought of going there if they aren't getting max money?

Even though Dirk took a crazy low deal to come back, Dallas only has around $18 to offer a big fish, this no max
Cubes isn't the type to guy a roster just so he can offer the max
