that's basically what I told her. If she is truly liable for the amount then the owners should have no problem putting it all in writing.

But she works for the retailer. The owner of the stolen card isn't on the hook for the $1,300 but wouldn't the store lose the money they were fraudently paid? Not sure how that works.
