why is it a surprise this expensive tech is being dropped in favor of lightweight and paper-thin OLED and other technologies?

I have a Pioneer Kuro plasma that I bought 5 years ago. I wouldn't trade it for anything currently available on the market. The picture is stunning. Yes, it's heavier than LED or LCD TV's but it's been hanging on a wall since I purchased it. It's not like I'm going to move it around every week. I've never had an issue with burn in at all.
