But once it had happened, the federal government along with the local and state governments all could have done a lot better which would have led to fewer deaths.
You guys would be crucifying even more if he had declared martial law against the wishes of a democrat Governor. Especially when troops or police were required to shoot criminals and looters who were firing on them. Some black kids would have been killed and the only thing we would hear is how Bush wrestled control from the female democrat and sent in troops to mow down black kids.

I have said nothing policially biased in any of my rants against the response to katrina. My objections to the response would be the same whether it was a Dem, rep, or independent.
What everyone involved did was not the best solution.
you paint this as the only other option. I have pointed out several things that he could have done (not martial law) that could have helped. Even one simple solution as taking a hands on approach, making a landing like he did in 9/11 if nothing else to inspire hope and send a message that he was going to take down this problem with the same overall good job as he did in 9/11. This step alone would have helped silent critics and sold a more unified response.

When a city is under water and there is mass looting and chaos and a governor calls begging for help, one does not expect a president to be campaigning
And partying with McCain and strumming the guitar with a country singer.
This really isn't hard to understand.

Were you born yesterday? This happened.
Tourists were stopped on the Westbank bridge from seeking safety from armed deputies. Stores were looted. Many. Burned to the ground. Cops fighting block to block against animals with guns. Many were killed.
