The connection to high blood pressure is the stress that it puts on your heart. Basicically, while sleeping your neck muscles relax and collapses your air way. Body stops breathing, brain gets depleted O2 levels and wakes the body up to restore breathing. This cycle continues throughout the night, which puts the heart body under a lot of stress. This is why you wake up tired and get high blood pressure.
