Isn't the case on the .357 just a cut down .40 with a bottle neck on it?

I've had a 10mm in the FBI Smith model 1076 and a gun that heavy and in my case inaccurate had to be very unpopular with the agents. It probably had to be larger and heavier to handle the dynamics of that cartridge. The 357sig is in a Glock and my car gun - very accurate and not much recoil. I also have a sig 229 in 40 and it also is accurate but to me has more recoil than the 357. Another consideration is being able to find ammo - 40 is everywhere, no so 357 sig and 10.

Yea pretty much. It's a little more complex than that but for all in tents and porpoises it's a necked 40
