Once the 5 minute oil change facilities started popping up that allow the driver to stay in his or her vehicle coupled with the price of a quart of oil these days, self oil changes are extinct in my world. The comfort of changing my own oil is offset by the digital database in both vehicles that would tell me immediately upon leaving a facility if there was an issue.
Plus, I'd have episodes such as yours each and every time if I did it myself.

I agree. That's why it's the first time I've changed it n this truck in 3 years. Changing the oil in the 4wheeler and got a wild hair (it was time to change it in the truck too).
But,I'll burn that motor up before I do that again.
