I think some are confusing "short-term" acceleration with what is usually understood as speed relative to football. Most of us would understand the OP in terms of either 40 yd, 60M, or 100M times.
That said, my money's on Trindon.
Has any NFL put up a better 100M time than Trindon? I think Demps has a wind-aided better time. Anybody else?

Billy Cannon also ran Track at LSU where he posted a 9.5 in the 100 yd (not meters) in 1959!
