I have a deceased facebook friend, rest his soul, whose account was apparently on some odd automatic birthday card notification deal when he passed, so that everyday I get several 'Send so-and-so birthday greetings' from his account. Yeah, csb.

Would someone look unkindly on me, if I went and deleted him as a friend now? I certainly wish his memory no ill.

So are these once a year messages an issue for some reason?

No, it's like every day. He gets them sent out for each of his friends on each of their birthdays. The dead guy's still got a thousand or so friends, so it averages like 3 per day that I'm getting. I guess I could block that particular deal, but that's always such a pain in the arse.

Had a Facebook friend pass a while back, and his mother updates his statuses and tags him in pictures. CSB-She actually went off one day on one of the statuses, mildly entertaining, but creepy all at the same time. Also, some of his close friends write on his wall on occasion.

It was really weird seeing stuff being posted by a person who is no longer with us, and people tagging him in pictures. I think this is going to be a big issue in the coming years. I think a true protocol needs to be established.
