With the exception of a couple of beaches, Mexico is a hellhole of a country. Proof: all the people running away from there, willing to live in the shadows here, making $2/hr.
The infrastructure is a joke. PEMEX is a joke. There's rampant poverty and crime. How would we fix that? We can't invest in our own country to fix the problems we currently have.
Sadly, the Mexican people probably get more help from us today, via foreign aid, then they would get as the 51st - 58th states.
