Heya TigerTrainer! My two cents:

ISDS705 & MKT701 are probably the two easiest courses in this program -- at least for me -- a career project manager.

ACCT701 & FIN701 were the two toughest courses for me, based on very little accounting and finance background.

With that being said here is how I'd pair up:

Summer 20 AP1
ISDS 705: Management Information Systems
FIN 701: Financial Management

Fin701 with Kendall is a very challenging course that you can't fake/BS your way through, tests are tough, and the mult. choice contains common math errors, so you gotta know your shite and that f'n financial calulator - but ISDS705 is basically a no-show class (I took Gherfal...but Lin is easy from all accounts). Feel free to pair these with no concern.

Summer 20 AP2
ECON 705: Economic Analysis for Management Fawaz
MADM 701: Organizational Behavior Kungo

My advice here is to avoid Kungu - He's 100% absent, doesn't teach at all just gives reading assignments, relies on AC's to grade discussion posts and papers, you can do a lot better -- regardless, this is a manageable pair that I pulled off earlier.

Fall 20 AP1
ACCT 701: Managerial Use of Accounting Data Huang
MKT 701: Marketing Strategy

I'm currently in Si Chen's MKT 701 - Super easy class, try to get her as your prof (I'm sitting at 102% 5 weeks in -- cases are 6 discussion posts, NO REPLIES, 3 3 page case studies, and 3 quizzes that are NOT hard at all...)
Acct701 with Ambrosio is double-up-able, IF you can make the time to attend his zoom sessions. Dude is a great prof and will put in the work with you to get you the A -- if you don't attend the zoom sessions, its gonna be a bad time...

I'll let others review the specialization -- I took all 3 PM courses for mine...good luck and hit me with any questions!

I am now 2 classes away from finishing, so I figured it is time for me to contribute to this forum. This forum is one of the major reasons I chose LSUS. To my knowledge (searching google), most other schools don't have a resource as good and active as this forum. I was already taking MBA classes at a Big 10 school, but got frustrated by not having any resource to evaluate which professors to take. It was always a total shot in the dark.

So here's my thoughts on the teachers I have had so far:

ECON 705
Fawaz, Fadi
One of the best teachers I have ever had. Watch his zoom sessions and you will be fine. I had never had any type of econ class before this. Class was only tests, no papers, no discussion. Wish he taught a stats class, so I could take it. This guy is a stats/math genius and knows how to teach it to people like me that struggle with numbers.

ACCT701
Ambrosio, Fabio
He had some really professional looking videos. He must be a big-shot teacher at some other bigger school to have such nice and well-produced content featuring himself. Learned a lot, really good teacher. From what I remember, it was only tests, and you were allowed to have the open pdf document during the tests. This class was zero fluff. I doubled it with ISDS 705, no problem.

ISDS 705
Gibbs, James
This is one of the few teachers I had in the course that taught some real-world stuff alongside the academics. Really good teacher. This class is more about learning excel than anything. If you have a valid Microsoft excel certification, he will let you out of the busy work portion of that. It was well worth it for me to go take the cert test, since I was also taking ACCT 701 at the same time. There was a quiz from the book every week, and some homework which was just finding the answers to the review questions in the book. No papers/no discussion.

FIN 710/FIN 720
Hsiesh, Chengho
I think this guy was the only option for these classes. Both classes are identical setup. You will have 4 really big/time consuming exams. No homework, no papers, no discussion. You are allowed the pdf materials, excel, and financial calculator during tests. Tests can be so long he allows bathroom breaks. He is a really good teacher. Some people complain about his accent, but everything you need is in his pdf books that he provides. He has zoom sessions if you need help, and I have found him to be very responsive and helpful. His course materials were so well-written that I never needed any additional explanation, and that is rare for me since I am not great with numbers. The content for all the tests are covered in his practice problems in the readings and the practice exams. If you do not actually work through ALL of his practice problems ahead of time, you might run out of time during the exam trying to figure it all out. Most of his exams give 2 hours, so that's a lot of time. If you prepare for the exams, they are no big deal. I am taking FIN720 and FIN740 at the same time with no issues.

FIN740
Kim, Sung
This class is more of a R programming class than a finance class, but there are some basic financial concepts scattered throughout. Some of the quiz questions also refer to basic finance knowledge (bond valuation, net present value, etc.). There is a homework project and a quiz every week. The homework is no big deal. It was fairly easy to find examples of previous students' work on coursehero.com, but be aware that he changes the assignments every class. Copying/pasting will get you nowhere. The quiz can get tricky. He allows you to have the book during the quiz, but some of the questions cannot be answered from the book alone. You will need to actually work with the code in R studio every week to understand some of the quiz questions. If you read AND run the code that is being taught every week (not just the homework), you will be fine. It was not time-consuming. He even supplies the code to you in a script file every week. The 2 projects required a little more work, but nothing horrible. The thing I struggled with most in this class was ARIMA modeling. I do not have a stats background, so I had to get help.

Do you know anyone that has took ISDS 705 with Lind. We have a midterm tomorrow but she didn't give us much guidance on what to study from and is all over the place

Rybo44 --- thanks for the detailed post.
Great info.

Had to make some changes away from my proposed classes and your proposed solutions due to some classes not being available during certain sessions.

All registered ... so let's see where things land. Had to take into account my electives and specialization in step with the calendar for the core classes. If one isn't careful, you can end up sitting on the sideline a term for your final classes because they simply aren't available. I think I'm on track ---

Thanks again for the info.

Hi all – I survived my year at LSUS! I decided to also memorializing courses and instructors and below are order of courses, difficulty, time required, and grade received. Overall, I was happy with the program and gradated Spring AP2 2020 with a 3.9 GPA. As with anything, there were good and bad professors, teaching styles, and course materials – but by in large, everything was what one would expect in a Masters program. I will lurk around for a few weeks to answer any questions – best of luck to all future students!

Summer AP 1 2019

Course: ACCT701 w/ Ambrosio
Difficulty: 2 out of 5
Time Required: 5-8 Hrs Per Week
Grade Received: A
Notes: Summer AP 1 2019 – class was open book, but not a great reference. I was able to create excel shortcut sheets that saved my arse for use on quizzes. Be sure to attend zoom live and twist the professor's arm, he will give exact test questions (albeit with numbers changed). One of the best prof’s in the program, hands down.

Course: ECON705 w/ Shaughnessy
Difficulty: 4 out of 5
Time Required: 10-12 Hrs Per Week
Grade Received: A
Notes: Summer AP 1 2019 – class was difficult, even with an econ background from my undergrad. Professor uses recorded zoom sessions. His quizzes and materials are on coursehero, but changed for the exams, so be sure to understand concepts. This was a challenging course, but overall really enjoyed Shaughnessy and highly recommend.

Hi Rybo,

I am starting my first classes of the MBA with project management concentration in a week or so. My first classes are Acct 701 with Ambrosio and Econ 705 with Fawaz. I am so nervous. I see you had them both, any other advice or tips, I havent been in school in years. Any outside materials, or special calculator you think might be helpful? Any advice is appreciated! Thanks!
