Granted I'm only 23, I use to run into this problem while back home on breaks, this is how to deal with it.

You say:
"Dang bro, your lookin' pretty tough with that shirt on, I bet nobody will frick with you tonight. Especially with that Harley you rolled up in."

His response:
"Yeah me and the ol' lady decided to get out of the trailer park for a bit this weekend and have a beer with you. I just hope some little Teurlings Catholic a-hole doesn't frick with my bike outside. Or else I'll have to beat his arse."

Your Response:
"You would really try and fight some High School kids who fricked with your bike?"

His Response:
"Hell Yeah, but they would probably all runaway before I got a jab at any of them. You think some 17 year old kid want's a piece of this? For christ sake I'm wearing an affliction shirt."

Then You exit stage left.
