As you may be aware, the real benefit to multi families is in the tax deductions - you can write off expenses such as property taxes, interest, insurance, repairs, maintenance, etc. to the tune of the % of your house being used for "the business." For us, this means 75%. And you still get the normal mortgage interest deduction for the portion you don't write off for "the business."
