My wife and I are owner-occupants of a 4-unit multi family. If you get a decent place in a good location for a fair price, you can do very well for yourself. How much income you bring in is largely dependent on how much work you're willing to do yourself. We fix/maintain pretty much everything within reason, thus the house pays for itself
