People really need to start realizing that these contractors are essentially military personnel. They perform the exact same function. Up until the early 90's the military fulfilled these functions. The military was drawn down so the government went to contractors. End result is the same. American personnel performing military functions overseas.

True.

Look, if 200 Americans get killed, contractor or not, something needs to be done, for the precedent at minimum.

God bless them. And 99.99% are former military. But they make 5 times what the E-4-E-8s that they replace make. They are not essentially military and we should have better limited their role.

I hope they make it out okay. They tend to be very, very effective as operatives.
