Cutting the cord game system advice

We are cutting the cord in the next few days. I currently use an Xbox 360 in the living room for Netflix and the like.
I still haven't made up my mind on which next gen system is better for me. However, I have considered staying with Xbox, but I'm not sure if the TV integration features would be well utilized after we get rid of DirecTV.
It seems like it might be better to save money with the PS4 and to invest the extra $100 in an Apple TV.

They both cost the same now.
Still get a ps4, unless Halo is your favorite game.

They both are overpriced.
Still, you can build a PC, unless your favorite game is an overrated console exclusive.

But doesn't the lack of the Kinect negate most the media interface advantages?

The lack of the Kinect just negates the voice commands. You can still use the controller for all the media stuff.

If you have a windows pc your xbox can act as an extender to control OTA signals (with a guide and dvr capabilities). I don't have extenders but with Plex I can still watch network tv faster than HULU (hour or two for a one hour show max) for free. I've actually considered buying a used xbox for this purpose only.
Also, even though you're not interested, I still need to look at it some more but I'm intrigued by Nintendo Tvii.

Has been mentioned before here, but go with which system you want exclusives on. Ignore the resolution, kinect and price arguments. What exclusives do you want more?

Not necessarily true. I'm considering the WiiU at some point as well. However, the PS and Xbox having a BluRay player would allow me to move our current BluRay player to our bedroom TV. It has Netflix, Amazon, Hulu, and other streaming apps on it.
After the E3 announcements I spent a lot of time researching the WiiU for gaming. It would be a good system for most of my needs, but the lack of BluRay may make me hold off for a while.

While it wouldn't be a deal breaker to no longer play Halo, there aren't any PS exclusives that I am overly interested in. Also, I really don't care about serious baseball games.
Nothing else since truly compares IMO.
