NBA didn't need ratings in the 90s because it had less competition, but with more competition and options these days for entertainment like the internet and video games and such the NBA needs to do what it can to get the ratings it needs for $$$, rigging started around the early 2000s when Jordan was done and they needed juicy Finals matchups

Yea because all the Spurs teams are real juicy match ups...Also Lakers sweeping Pacers and dominating 76ers in 5 games...real juicy
