But I do find it funny. If I ran a day care and hired a known pedo to work there, am I responsible, should I get sympathy when he does something wrong and I get shut down? If I ran a hotel and hired a known Identity/credit card thief, am I responsible, should I get sympathy for all the lawsuits against me for things that the criminal did?

I don't know how else to say, but IMO the person deserves what happens to them when they make shitty choices. Why were you with such a douche bag? Girls date drug dealers and other sorts of criminals...you know, play with fire get burned. You buy a pet snake and then want sympathy when it bites you?
