Best way to explain it is you'd understand if you were ever in the same situation.
It's a pain to deal with and I want everything resolved and documented ASAP. When you get divorced and have a child, your life is then basically run by the court and your ex. I have to pay child support even though I have my kid 65% of the time and I took absolutely nothing when I left. I took 0 community property and didn't even ask for a penny of the equity we had in our house.

I've been divorced twice and children involved both times. Maybe it's a La thing? In mine it was put in the decree how much child support is and that is that. She can always sue to have it evaluated again but it will never change simply because my income does.
