It's not as crazy as you think.

That's a nice motivational quote. But I still realize that a lot has to happen for a team to make it to Omaha. You played in college. You understand that a team's bats can go quiet for a weekend very easily. Facing a good pitcher can put a team in a funk for a couple of games. For a team to make it to Omaha, they obviously have to be very talented, but they also have to have some good fortune as well. UH had good pitching. We just didn't hit enough to win.

And I can also see that quote referring to a team's preseason goals. Yes, it should be every team's goal to reach Omaha before the season starts.

I guess my point was that the team and coaches don't just see it as a goal. I think they really do see Omaha as the expectation. Every year. They preach it from day one. It's never lofty. It's never out of reach.

As fans, sure, maybe we can be more realistic in those expectations. But why? Skip knew that it takes everyone who is a part of a program to create those championships. Everyone had to want it. To expect it. To do the things necessary to get it. Fans included.

Who cares if it is unrealistic of us. But that's what makes LSU baseball LSU baseball. frick being realistic. We expect it every year. And that's a good thing.
