If you are going to fish the area for bass, Then I'd suggest either fishing the Lake Maurepas shoreline just to the right of the mouth of blind river. Be careful, it's extremely shallow in places there. Worms, frogs or lizards in the lilly pads and trees rigged weedless.
Another option is to hit Chene Blanc. If you head toward Blind River, about 3-500 yards after you get out of Diversion Canal, there will be a bayou to the left. Head down that bayou until it tees off. That's Chene Blanc. There's a couple of Oil Well Canals in that area that produce decently, as well as just fishing the river itself.
There's also Black Lake down that way that produces decent at times.
Like others have said, the water is not going to be pretty.
