Well i mean if they want someone with experience recruiting kids to a place like Tulane, it would certainly be Jake over Riser. Not only has he been the recruiting coordinator since 2009(might actually be a negative lol), he's 4 years older and a more experienced coach.

Not that Riser will never be a great coach. But he's 29 and his team just finished 5th in the southland in his first year. He has a little more to prove.

Riser's resume is too thin for this job.
I just don't know what kind of coach Jake is. Jones wasn't putting in the work he used to on recruiting, but I don't know if that falls on Jake or not.
Honestly, Jones should have kicked Jake out of the nest a few years ago and get him some varied experience. We became way too insular over the last few years.
It's a close call; I'd lean Riser, but really neither is best.

Joe Scheuermann will never see the Tulane dugout and Matt Riser has a lot more to prove before stepping up to Tulane. David Pierce would be the best hire IMO, but I don't think he wants the job due to his strong ties to the Houston area and wanting the Rice job if Graham ever croaks. That leaves Gautreau as the best guy for the job with his proven ability to recruit the Tulane type of student and good athletes in just a couple years as the main recruiter. Not to mention that you are looking at a guy who, with some success, won't be looking to step-stone to another program.
