OP is updated.
I'm about to head out of town today for work, but hope to get back to this thread either tomorrow afternoon or Wednesday with my thoughts and responding to ya'lls thoughts. Also, I still need to get to ya'lls thoughts on last week's episodes, which I will also do.
TH03 is catching up on the series, so hopegully he'll be joining us soon finally.
Also, where the frick is Fear and the couple of others who are really into Fringe? And we can also discuss the glyphs and see what they've been saying...I forgot all about that, and earlier in the thread someone was updating us on what they spelled each episode I thought..

Thank god he isn't here. On my first watch, he got pissed and stalked me for a whole year because I had about 3 negative comments on the whole show.
He would be in full meltdown mode if he saw my comments this time.

did you catch my comments on the last page.
I was wondering if you think the Alternate universe story line is better than the our side story.
So far I have thought 1 3 5 are better than 2 4 6.
I almost skipped 6 to watch 7, because 5 was so good.

I'm not sure, but I do really like the alt universe stuff though. It's a cool, different take on our world so I think the "newness" (or whatever you want to call it) makes it a little more interesting. Add in the advanced tech and cool shite like that, and I think the altverse stuff likely wins out. But I still enjoy our world's episodes as well thogh. And I certainly don't like the altverse stuff enough to skip "regular" episodes.

maybe it was just episode 5. I'm really excited to see Olivia go spec ops trying to escape the alt universe.
I may have been reading to much into episode 5 but there is an anticipation in me for her escape attempts.

one more thing.
I brought this up the other page, but are you convinced by peter not knowing she's not Olivia? I mean I know she looks the same (except her hair is slightly different), but she doesn't act like Olivia, it is blatantly obvious to the viewer that she isn't Olivia. Even if you didn't know they switched you would have easily have figured out she wasn't Olivia. It is obvious. How can't Walter figure it out, Astro, Peter, Broyles? I just don't buy that it is working. I know they have hints of it, but it's just not believable.

First off, it isn't like they associate much with each other outside of cases. Yes, Peter and Olivia were starting to form a romantic bond but they weren't dating.
As I said in my post, Fauxlivia hit Peter with sex to distract him and it is working.
Although I think he has a suspicion. You have to remember Olivia was only out of his sight for a few seconds. Hard to think she could be switched that fast.
On one hand, I do find it believable on the other hand, there are too many differences between our world and her world and I think she would have screwed up big by now. 1 book on pop references isn't enough to get caught up to our world.
You just have to suspend belief on this issue just like we have to suspend belief that they weren't already testing all sensitive employees for mercury blood.

she trapped him with her Vagenda. It was confusing to me how the where switched the first watch

thanks for this, it makes sense.
I guess it's hard to understand what peter is going through because we know she switched and peter doesn't.

Along with sex, Peter is still trying to come to terms with finding out he is from the Alterverse. He also knows he could be instrumental in killing billions if he is forced to use the machine.
Walter is distracted by drugs and his fear of what Peter is working on.
Broyles has a 100% working relationship with Olivia so Fauxlivia is similar enough to Olivia that she can fool him.
Asparagus is too busy taking care of Walter to notice anything odd about Olivia.
I think Nina could figure it out if she meets with Olivia enough. I think she is sharp and duplicitous enough herself, to see deception from others.

all good points.
It won't matter to much soon, because peter will soon find out.
That is why I wanted to skip episode 6 I wanted to see Olivia run into that women at night in the store. I'm pretty sure Olivia will escape without being allowed too.
BTW, have you noticed Walter is finally starting to get to know Ostrich's name? It probably won't last long.

I'm here, man. I have notes saved in my phone on the three episodes, just haven't been on here much in the last few days (out of town Monday and Tuesday, was around earlier today but got busy this afternoon).
I should be all up in this tmorrow morning though. You know I haven't forgotten about this shite.

Starting to catch up now.

Okay, my thoughts on the three episodes for this week.
Do Shapeshifters Dream of Electric Sheep?
I really really like TJN as a villain. Much more than DRJ (though I liked him too) and even Walternate.
Cold blooded how he just smoked that senator in the face. And he's a straight up crack shot the way he keeps missing Broyles's face by mere inches around that corner.
Also completely love how his plan was just to pull out a gun and roll the body out the front door of the hospital. No big deal. :lolL:
Astrid tells Walter he never gets her name right, but that's not true...he just gets it wrong too. he calls her Astrid here and there, and Agent Farnsworth a lot. Back the frick off, Aspirin.
Those scenes with the senator and his wife when she was trying to talk to his body were fairly intense, and really sad.
Why wouldn't that shapeshifter kill Walter? I know he incapacitated him with the head wound, but it makes almost no sense that he wouldn't kill Walter just for a) being in his way, and b) being one of the main people they're fighting against.
Fauxlivia...when in doubt, seduce the guy with sex. Solid plan. I really like how you can keep seeing the little inconsistencies with the Livs both being switched in different universes. Good job by Anna Torv making that believable too.
I completely forgot that TJN offs himself, and this early on. So much for loving him as a villain. frick.
Amber 31422
Seems like almost sort of a filler episode. But still good though.
To catholic's point earlier, I do like the episodes in the alternate universe a lot. And I think one reason is because the real Olivia is over there and I sort of connect to that. But even on top of that, it's still a cool place.
Is it me or is Alt Broyles (Brauxyles?) always chewing gum? Like in every single scene it seems like.
I vividly remember when Liv was crossing back and going into that gift shop. Cool to see that again.
Why they think that convincing Liv that she is Fauxlivia is baffling to me. No wy that should work, especially when they then turn around and tell her that regular Liv can cross over and now they magically think Fauxliv can too.
I forgot about Liv's enhanced hearing (like when she hears the bomb and Charlie and Lincoln don't). That's a throwback to a season two episode where that dude had his human being-devouring son in the basement.
I am no scientist, but I feel like that dude's destabilizer machine thing shouldn't literally put a hole in the wall to the bank...shouldn't it just destabilize it so he can move through it? Oh well, fringe science and all that, I guess.
Cool ending when Liv crosses over and makes the call to Ella. Only thing that caught me though was that she told Walternate and Brandon that it didn't work. But they were monitorin the machines and had to know it worked based on the same brain activity from the first time. IMO she should've just lied and said that she went to the same gift shop or something like that.

This is gonna sound weird, but I don't like Fauxlivia in blonde hair, and I don't like Olivia in red hair. I know they're both Anna Torv, but it's unsettling for me for some reason.
Cool episode, and numbers stations are actually a thing that nobody really knows what the frick they are for. So that's pretty cool.
The First People...that's the Observers, right? Don't we find that out later on? I seem to remember that for some reason.
So these pieces of the device in the regular timeline will need to get back to the altverse at some point? I'm a little confused on that. I know Fauxlivia is moving on to phase two or whatever, but don't remember exactly what comes next (which is good and makes the rewatch more fun IMO).
shite's about to go down with Liv in the altverse, and IIRC, we get a lot more Bubbles in the coming episodes.

quote:
If we are in a full blown war with shapeshifters from another dimension shouldn't we be administering some form of daily blood test to all people in power? Wouldn't be hard since their blood is Mercury.
Agreed. As dangerous as these people are (I mean, they jump universes, are robots, bleed metal, can look like any person on Earth, and have already killed agents), nobody seems to want to put any sort of security measures into place.
quote:
So they bring the wife to get a reaction from Vanhornbot and once they actually get one, everyone freaks out and the unplug him.
I thought the same thing. Broyles called that off way too fast.
quote:
That was an incredibly weak effort by Fauxlivia to find Officer Friendly. She arrived upstairs almost as fast as Peter. If he checked to see who exited the building it would be apparent she didn't even try to find the guy. Either weak effort by Fauxlivia or terrible direction of that scene.
It's like you're reading my mind. When I'm watching, I find it harder and harder to believe that between Peter, Broyles, Walter, and Astrid, nobody remotely realizes that this is Fauxlivia. I mean, it's not like they don't know that there is an exact replica of Liv and that they've come into contact with her and that they were all separated and that now this one is acting weird. And for frick's sake, Peter, try a little bodily foreplay and try to notice the fricking tattoo on the back of her neck.
quote:
I don't like the Peter Hallucination. One thing to see glimpses here and there of things that remind her of her old memories but Peter straight up trying to convince her through conversation doesn't work for me.
Agree completely. It always feels SO out of place and forced. It's one thing to be like "You know who I am...come home," but he straight up helps her solve cases now? GTFO, Fringe. It's not actually Peter, so no way in hell he should be doing that.
quote:
Also since it is 3rd season, I see Torv must have said no to bra and panties.
Yeah, the dress was a little disappointing.
quote:
This isn't some unexplained phenomena. He used similar vibrational tech to go through walls that was used by the David Robert Jones gang.
Only thing I'll say with that is that DRJ and that tech was in the regular universe, and not the altverse. Other than that, I got nothing.
quote:
I still don't believe the Feds would allow Peter to keep a key piece of tremendously dangerous tech in an unprotected office lab.
Why doesn't Walter explain to Peter the actual danger and his reasoning why Peter shouldn't use the device? If he explained it just like he did with Nina, maybe Peter would slow down.
Both of these bothered me, especially with Walter. It's the same thing as before where if he'd have explained exactly what happened after he stole Peter from the other side, Peter may have opened up a little, instead of just letting Peter be like "You stole me, the end."
quote:
How is Peter's picture on the drawing of the device? Is the drawing from the future? Did the observers create the document? If so, why would they try to keep Peter from using the device?
I don't have a problem with him being on it. The problem I have is that why show fire (or whatever...lasers??) coming out of his eyes. It's pretty clear that the picture is a depiction of something bad happening to Peter, yet he's all gung fricking ho about dabbling more and more with the machine. Tempting fate, and we know what eventually happens..

quote:Not sure why you have so much love for IJN. I thought DRJ had more personality.
Much more than DRJ
quote:His plan made no sense, especially since all he had to do was remove the disc. I guess he was trying to get him out alive, but the rolling out was a bit silly.
his plan was just to pull out a gun and roll the body out the front door of the hospital
Not sure why the shifter didn't just kill Walter. Maybe Walternate told them not too because he wants Walter to suffer seeing his world destroyed around him.
quote:They are more fun simply because the world is more interesting with all the events going on everywhere and the tech.
I do like the episodes in the alternate universe a lot
quote:It doesn't make much sense but since they didn't draw it out for too long, it isn't too annoying.
Why they think that convincing Liv that she is Fauxlivia is baffling to me.
We still have a big pile of annoying coming up with Bellivia.
quote:
I completely forgot that TJN offs himself
I still find it implausible that they wouldn't have that guy being watched by 40 people simultaneously, so his jail room meeting with Fauxlivia bugged me, just like it bugs me even more that we aren't supposed to ask what happened to his data disc. Stupid since the whole point of the episode was to recover Vanhornbots data disc.
quote:
I am no scientist, but I feel like that dude's destabilizer machine thing shouldn't literally put a hole in the wall to the bank...shouldn't it just destabilize it so he can move through it?
I still want to know why Fringe division considered this an Amber alert.
quote:Yup.
she should've just lied and said that she went to the same gift shop or something like that.
quote:The reason you don't like it is that you like Fauxlivia's personality. She smiles and has a bouncy walk. When she is pretending to be Olivia, that personality is gone. Olivia on the other hand doesn't really have the personality of Fauxlivia. She doesn't smile and doesn't have that bouncier walk. Which actually isn't very good direction because for the most part, she is supposed to be acting like Fauxlivia, but with some doubts.
This is gonna sound weird, but I don't like Fauxlivia in blonde hair, and I don't like Olivia in red hair. I know they're both Anna Torv, but it's unsettling for me for some reason.
